5×7″ pencil on paper

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on here. I’ve been in a sort of drawing rut the past couple of weeks. But here’s a little sketch. Hopefully I’ll have more regular artwork to post in the next couple of weeks.

Friesian Yearling

The reference was a photo I took at The Friesian Connection’s open house of one of their young stock. They are such beautiful horses.

A clay horse! I was making this as an example for one of my middle school classes. It’s not a great example for them because I told them to keep legs short or bent. It’s hard to get them to stand upright. This is the first time I’ve really succeeded (minus that clay lump under his leg…it’ll be gone once the leg hardens up a bit).

This figure is completely hollow apart from the legs and tail. The back legs and tail have unbent paperclips as armature. I will update in a week or so when he’s been fired and painted.
